RFL Principal Attorney Stephanie Fakih attended the State Bar of Michigan Criminal Law Section’s 7th annual Spring Conference in Frankenmuth on June 6 and 7. The Criminal Law Section’s (CLS) mission is to promote justice by studying Michigan’s criminal law and procedure, protecting the rights of individuals, and making recommendations to the State Bar of Michigan and Michigan’s legislature and judiciary. To accomplish their mission, the CLS promotes research projects, supports legal publications, adopts positions on issues of public concern with regard to criminal law, and sponsors conferences. Attorneys attend CLS conferences in an effort to continue their legal education.
This year’s topic was forensic science, and the conference was led by several outstanding speakers including Patricia Selby, Brian Zubel, Adam Kelly, Dr. Katherine Okla, Shannon Smith, Dr. Jeffery Wendt, and Werner Spitz. The speakers discussed understanding and analyzing DNA, computer forensics and forensic protocol, forensic psychology in arson cases, and pathology.
